Funassyi no monogatari #11 (Funassyi story #11)

This is the latest story I sent to my Mother in Law.

1: Mou sugu "Kodomo no Hi" dakara, koi nobori wo kazaranakucha ikenai nassy

1: It is almost Boy's Day, so we should put the koi nobori up nassyi

 2: Doko ni kazareru kana?

2: Where can we hang them?

3: Koko wa muri nassyi na

3: Not in this area nassyi

4: Kono ki ni wa koala ga kuru kara, koko mo dame nassyi

4: A koala visits here, so not in this tree

5: Kono ki wo tsukattara dou nappi ka?

5: what about this tree nappi?

6: Yattaa! Boku tachi no koinobori ga sora wo oyogi hajimeta nassyi yo!

 6. Yay! Our koinobori started swimming in the sky nassyi!

7: Koinobori wo kazareru kara, "Kodomo no Hi" wa tanoshii nappi ne!

 7. As we can display koinobori, Boy's Day is fun nappi!

It is actually story #11, with story #8 still having two parts to send. Confusing I know.

Funassyi & the Rakuten Eagles

This year saw Funassyi teaming up with the Rakuten Eagles to throw the first pitch at one of the games.

It just so happens that I am a baseball fan, and even before Funassyi teamed up with the Eagles, I was an Eagles fan, so it was a match made in heaven for me.

Unlike every other sport on this planet, the Japanese Baseball league is the only sport I can not watch live via web streaming  - I have searched and searched and searched, but can never find any streaming of the games.

But fortuantely, fan have posted links everywhere, so I can see the events of today.

The first pitch of the game video:

And some images from the pre game event:

Pirate Funassyi...

... and a cute Funacolle in a pirate costume.

Now some of you might know that I REALLY want one of those "90 cm Funassyi stuffed version 3" as they are called.

90 cm Funassyi - image from direct link via the Funassyi Webstore (see link below).

But they are very expensive, and by the time I could afford one I am fairly confident they won't be available to buy.

For those wanting to see how awesome they are can click this link

So imagine my complete surprise at finding one on the internet selling for about 1/3 of the normal price and with postage that was so cheap it was almost free.

After the initial joy wore off I started being logical about the 90 cm Funassyi and started to smell a rat, and a dead one at that.

I showed my wife, and she agreed with me.

We decided that it must be a pirated version of the 90cm Funassyi being made, obviously, illegally.

The images on the web site may or may not have been of the actual Funassyi being sold. It is hard to tell, and they may have even used a real legal one to be the model for the photos.

I thought I would do the right thing, and I contacted Gray Parka Service (GPS) and explained the situation. Thanks to my wife I was able to do so in Japanese, making the process a lot easier for GPS.

About 18 hours later GPS relied to me, with part of the email saying "Thank you very much for the precious information".

It seemed I was right - this was a 90cm Funassyi being made illegally, and GPS were in the process of launching an investigation in to the fraud and to see what could be done.

I was a bit sad that I wouldn't be able to buy this cheap 90cm Funassyi, as I refuse to knowingly purchase something like this.  Not only is it fraud, but it is depriving the legal owners income, as well as preventing donations to charity, as Funassyi gives a percentage of sold items to a very worthwhile charity.

Now, I wont be providing information as to where I found this pirated Funassyi - I am not here to promote anything illegal.

What I would like to do is tell Pear Friends to be wary of fake items being sold, and if you have a sense of what is right and wrong, then please do the right thing.

Anyone can contact Gray Parka Service directly via their 'contact us' section of their web site and provide the details of illegal items: link

Unfortunately for some the field headings for this form is in Japanese, and I don't know if the staff at GPS can read English (or other languages) but I dare say someone might be able to help you with translation if you were to ask around (I might be able to help out there... well, at least my wife might).

A page on the GPS site covers fake Funassyi items... it is rather difficult to find if you don't read Japanese, so my thanks goes out to Makiko Itoh of "We Love Funassyi" and "Justyhungry.com" fame for providing me with this page showing what to look out for in a fake Funassyi: link

So please be careful when you buy your Funassyi items, and consider being a good Pear Friend and do the right thing if you think you have found someone selling fakes.

I will get off my soap box now and go back to wishing I had a 90cm Funassyi.

Don't mess with Funassyi

This video was posted on twitter showing Funassyi displaying some karate skills.

Funanomics 3 released

Today is the official release day for the "Funanomics 3" DVD, although my pre order was posted on the 25th, and people in Japan received their pre order (?) copy on the 26th.

The bonus item for this DVD is a folded poster of Funassyi taken whilst filming for the DVD.

DVD cover

Poster found inside as the bonus item for pre-ordering? Source "funafunafunashi" on twitter

This DVD was filmed in Hokkaido in late 2015, and looks like it will be the usual fun Funassyi adventures.

I will have to wait for my copy to arrive, as it is being sent via SAL - so I could be waiting two to three weeks before I can enjoy Funassyi's latest DVD.

Funassyi interview

Original Tumblr post on mine: 10 June 2015: link

A video of an interview with Funassyi, posted on you tube on the 4th of March 2014

I have yet to ask my wife for a full translation, but at least we know Funassyi can jump at least 85cm off the ground.  I suspect he can go higher.

Squeeze n talk Funassyi

From the 16th of May 2015... this time an actual video I took and posted on youtube:

My wife also translated what Funassyi says for me into romaji and English:

1) Hyahha~! Funassyi nassyi~! Nashi jiru bushaa!    = Hyahha~! Funassyi nassyi~! Pear juice bushaa!

2) Ii koto wa, kimatte tsurai koto wo taeta toki ni kuru nassyi~! Hyahha~!
= Good things always come after you underwent hard times nassyi~! Hyahha~!

3) Funa funa funassyi no shio higari, hyahha~!
  = Funa funa funassyi’s clam digging, hyahha~!

4) Gyo gyo gyo! Suizokukan ni kita nassyi! Ah, manbo ga iru nassyi~! Manbo!
= Gyo gyo gyo! I am at an aquarium nassyi! Oh, there is a manbo (Ocean Sunfish) nassyi~! Manbo!

5) Kyo mo ichinichi otsukare sama nassyi~! Funassyi la la la la!
= You must have had a long, exhausting day. Good work nassyi! Funassyi la la la la!

Funassyi "Call me maybe"

Again from a post I made on the 9th of May 2015, this time I posted a link to a you tube video of Funassyi dancing to the song "Call me maybe". Not only is it a video of Funassyi, but one he posted on you tube.

"Seeing Funassyi climb on to the desk cracks me up :-D"

Funassyi saved by boy

Another of my older posts from Tumblr (9th of May 2015). This one is of a video where a little boy needs Funassyi. This one also has subtitles in English.

From my original post: "This boy acts cool as if seeing Funassyi is an every day occurrence, but rushes to save him with jagalico (one of my favorites too). "

I still enjoy watching this video - it never gets old.

How Funassyi was born

Back on the 6th of May 2015 I made a post based on a video of Funassyi giving an interview on how he came in to existence, and this video had English subtitles.

I will more Funassyi videos would have English subtitles, as it would help spread his fame far and wide.

Funassyi takes a bath

A you tube video showing Funassyi taking a bath:

And Funassyi washes his No.1 Suit:

Funassyi's unoffical birthday

Posted on my Tumblr blog back on the 27th April 2015 (link):

"The way the date is written in Australia makes the 27th of April (today) a kind of unofficial birthday for Funassyi, as today is the 27 of the 4th, or 274.
So today in Australia we will be celebrating Funassyi’s birthday :-D
So, Otanjobi omedeto gozaimasu Funassyi-san!"

"ふなっしーの非公認誕生日
ここオーストラリアでは日付は「日・月・年」の順番で表記されるので、4月27日(本日)は27.4と表示されます。つまり、今日はふなっしーの非公認誕生日~♪
なので、今日オーストラリアでふなっしーの誕生日をお祝いしたいと思います(^o^)/
だから、ふなっしー、お誕生日おめでとう~!"

Officially Funassyi has his birthday on the 4th of July, but in his first ever twitter post he says  the 22nd of November is his birthday, which I will make a post on in this blog soon.

Blind taste test

I shared this video on my tumblr blog in mid 2015 (not certain on the date as Tumblr isn't showing dates).

Funassyi does a blind taste test and is asked to guess what he eats.

He thinks maybe it is something like a pork dumpling, but is shocked to find out it is a Funassyi steamed bun instead.

Funassyi goes wild claiming it is cannibalism and leaves saying it is cannibalism, but it was yummy.

The original video was posted on 22 October 2014.

Photos of my first Funassyi

Back in 2015 I posted some photos of my Funassyi doing a few things:

Funassyi with one of my favourite snacks

Mail order Funassyi

Originally posted on my Tumblr blog on 16th April 2015:

"My lovely wife just assisted me buying some Funassyi items through amazon.co.jp: I was able to pre-order the special edition DVD coming out in a few months, a talking Funassyi and a large Funassyi to keep the Funassyi I already have company :-D

I did want some other items, but thought I would only get a few for the moment.

My Mother in law in Yokosuka will be surprised when the parcel arrives to be sent to Australia."

To update the original post: The first image is the cover of the first Funassyi anime DVD, with the second photo showing the special edition case it came it.

The third photo is of the second Talking Funassyi that was released, and the forth photo is of another large pillow/cushion Funassyi.

Who is Funassyi?

Rather than re type who Funassyi is in my own words, or worst still, copy and past from another page, I am providing a link to the wiki entry for Funassyi for people to learn about Funassyi who have never seen the information.

Link to Funassyi on wikipedia

On a side note, I was actually in Japan when Funassyi came in to existence back in November 2011.

Funassyi clears snow

Originally my first post on tumblr that wasn't a re-post from another blog dating back to the 15th of April 2015, this is a you tube video of a workman in Japan that takes his Funassyi to work with him.

It is also one my my favourites.

The first Funassyi to appear is the standard cushion type (the same type as my very first Funassyi given to me for Christmas 2014), and it is then swapped over to a "Sleeping bag" Funassyi.

This is a great fan video, and one that a) inspired my to get my own 'sleeping bag' Funassyi, and also to have some Funassyis from my collection do things too.

My original post can be seen here: tumblr

You can buy the Funassyi types shown in the video from various sources. The price will differ depending on where you buy it.

Amazon sells them, but the price will be higher. You can find them cheaper on Japanese web sites, but you might need help ordering if they don't support English.

Funassyi Pillow: strapya world   (although currently sold out)

Sleeping Bag Funassyi: Amazon

There is also another video of the same gentleman clearing snow posted four days before the above video, this time a variety of Funassyis appear - the sleeping bag Funassyi, the hand puppet and a smaller sized one often seen near the top of the window screen:

and finally, a you tube video from what appears to be a news report on the driver:

Welcome to the Aussie Nassyi blog

Welcome to my blog.

I originally started this blog on tumblr, but I find blogger easier to use, so I will be posting my old posts from my original blog to here as well as making new ones.

This is my original site, which will remain, but wont be updated: http://aussienassyi.tumblr.com/

Any post that is one from my old blog will be marked as such to avoid any confusion with any new posts I make.
